For many people of faith, the church that you belong to is a big part of your life. It is your home, essentially, and the place where you gather to worship and share your faith. However, when things start to change or if your church is struggling, it can be a question of whether you should move on and find a new church. A lot of people struggle with how and when to change their home church group, but there are a lot of different ways to figure out exactly what steps you need to take and whether a change is in order.
First and foremost, you can rely on prayer and God's guidance in your life to tell you what the right move might be. While church is a foundation for many Christians who want to worship and celebrate their faith in Christ, it isn't necessarily the most important part of your faith. Many Christians have proven that you can worship anywhere and that having God in your house everyday is just as important as worshipping at God's house. You need to pray about this issue and see what clarity comes from that. Talk to your family and friends about your struggle and get their insight, as well.
No one can tell you when it's time to move on to another congregation, whether you are in ministry or just worshipping. This is a decision that you have to come to on your own, through prayer, devotions, and a lot of time and thought. If something calls you to question your allegiance to the church that you currently belong to, you have to determine whether this is the call of God or if it is a temptation that you should be avoiding. It can be a difficult decision to make, but it is one that needs to be taken seriously.
When joining a church, you typically choose it based on their mission and message. If that changes or you no longer agree with their mission and/or message, it might be time to move on. However, it might just be a test of your faith to see how you can get through a rough spell and move forward in your worship. Finding a church where you belong and feel comfortable is going to make all of the difference in your faith, but that's going to be up to you and God to determine when and if it is time to move on or find a new place of worship.
